This stunning dendritic quartz half moon neckpiece is inspired by walks in the forest and the cycles of the moon. It was lovingly handmade in my garden studio in Tayport. I love gemstones with natural inclusions as they have character and hidden depth within them.

I certainly do! I’m a magpie to sourcing natural gemstones that have been created by nature. Dendritic quartz is one of my favourites. This particular one is a dendritic opal which is a type of agate. Some stones are clear with dendrite details, some have amber yellow tones and others are white. This particular stone has a lovely white pearlescent tones and stunning natural dendrite detail. It’s like a picture with it’s own little landscape captured within it.
Each one is completely unique with natural, tree like or moss like inclusions through the stone. The details are called dendrites, which form in the crystal over thousands of years. It’s created when manganese or iron oxides are deposited within microcrystalline quartz. Isn’t nature amazing!
I design around the stone and like to show off as much detail as possible. Some of my settings are quite rough and rugged like this one. I like to allow the silver to do what it wants when I’m setting it, just like nature.
This neckpiece comes with a chunky silver omega wire which bends around the neck. It also has an extender chain on it making it 16″ – 20″ and sits like a chocker. If you prefer longer neckpieces you can put it onto a longer chain.
It is a one of a kind piece and will make a statement.
