Description
This stunning statement necklace is my show stopper degree show piece from when I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2006. It is inspired by architecture, the Scottish landscape and influences from Egypt and Labyrinths.
The model shot was taken by Noel Shelley who is an established photographer based in London. The image has been widely used in the press throughout the UK. I won a Goldsmiths Precious Metal Bursary from the Goldsmiths Company for the design of this necklace. I was invited to take part in their getting started 4 day business course in London and exhibited 3 of my pieces including this piece at Goldsmiths Hall.
The Labyrinth necklace is a one off piece which is handmade in silver with 23ct gold detail. Each piece has been individually handpierced and rollered through the rolling mill with handmade papers to create a unique texture. I have oxidised some of the pieces to add contrast and colour, to bring out the textures of the metal. Some pieces have 23ct gold leaf applied to the silver which adds more colour and luxury.
The necklace can be worn in numerous ways, as displayed in the model shot, it can be worn down the back. It can sit down the front, you can open it and clip the links making it a shorter double necklace. Play about with it and wear it the way you want.
