The Story Of Genna Design Jewellery

Hi there, I’m Genna and I’m a Scottish jewellery designer based in Wasps Studios, Dundee. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been making things with my hands. Growing up in the lovely coastal town of Largs, I have always been completely in awe of the sea. I spent my childhood combing the sand for unusual shells and rocks, many of which I still have today.

My other great passion in life is architecture and when I was growing up, I planned to study it at university. But that all changed when I took a night class in jewellery making. I immediately loved the feeling of working with metal and precious stones and creating beautiful miniature sculptures with my hands. All of a sudden I could channel my love of architecture and Scottish landscape into making a single piece of jewellery that could be worn and adored. It is such a satisfying process and I love it just as much today.

I love to work with precious materials but also incorporates non-precious materials such as semi-precious stones, perspex and resin, adding colour to catch the eye. I have a vast range of jewellery to suit everyone’s needs. For example I enjoy taking on commissions to add that personal touch and individuality for my clients but also has various commercial ranges. With a love for colour I like to introduce unusual and rare stones which the wearer can play with and move along the labyrinths of my pieces.

Genna has lots of lovely jewellery to buy. The best things are bespoke though. She made me a few unique items using much loved heirlooms and updating them.
